Geographic limitations

There are no geographic limitations; however, the Trust has a practice of primarily supporting organizations located in New Jersey.

Requirements

  • To be eligible, organizations must qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Grantmaking priorities

Preference may be given to requests for the following:

  • Secondary education

Average giving

Average grant size: $15,000 to $25,000
Average number of grants per year: 15-20
Average total giving per year: $200,000

Annual application period and deadlines

Applications are accepted year-round but must be submitted by June 1.

Communications

Applicants will receive an automated email confirming their submission. Grant decisions are generally communicated by August for applications received by the deadline.

Required agreements and reports

Periodic progress reports and final reports may be required for funded projects.

About the Foundation

The Carolyn Jane Scott Charitable Trust was established under a trust agreement by Carolyn Scott. She resided in Jersey City, NJ. The trust was created to support various charitable organizations.
